Bethany College Interiors Refurbishment

a break from a traditional educational toilet facility into one of class and elegance.

Bethany College is an all girls catholic school. The School required an upgrade and expansion to their toilet facilities.

The location of the fitout is on the ground level of a subterranean 3 story building. The internal planning of the existing space was compartmentalised which meant the spaces were convoluted and impractical for students to circulate. Accessibility was also non compliant and the natural light and ventilation was inadequate and ineffective.

A fresh new look and feel was required.

In response to the issues at hand Morson Group gutted the ground level existing cellular toilet spaces and adopted an 'open plan' approach and formed new circulation pathways into the space.

The idea was to have the students feel comfortable using the toilets at peak periods when large volumes of students are using the toilets during recess and lunch breaks.

Selection of materials was an important consideration for the college. The school is located on a site with heritage listed buildings and the toilets were to take queues and inspiration from existing spaces.

Material selections adopted natural finishes such as light and dark marbles and dark timber.

The result is a break from a traditional educational toilet facility into one of class and elegance.

Morson Group managed the process of maintaining full operation of the school throughout the construction of the fitout. We managed the process of access and deliveries, working hours to the centrally located building within the college.
